Albuquerque is the largest city in the state of New Mexico, United States. It is the county seat of Bernalillo County, and is situated in the central part of the state, straddling the Rio Grande River.

As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 448,607. The metropolitan area has a population of 712,738 and includes the city of Rio Rancho, one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

The pace of living is a little slower and the people are friendly. It is a multi-cultural community combining the closeness of family and culinary delightfulness and magic of the Mexican American culture. Enhanced by the spiritual and artistic magic of the Native American culture. Cemented together by the know-how and motivation of the "Anglo" European Culture. Nestled between the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande, Albuquerque's climate is usually sunny and dry, averaging no more than 10-12 inches (250 to 300 mm) of precipitation per year. The city hosts the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta every October. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta started in 1972.

Albuquerque is also a center for tourism, attracting skiers, museum-goers, balloonists, and adventure-seekers of all kinds. Albuquerque's temperate climate, large number of sunny days, proximity to both mountains and rivers and central location along both old Route 66 and, later, Interstate 40 have been drawing people to Albuquerque for years.
